Right Hand Drive Rack and Pinion, 1967-1969 Camaro
For those looking to convert their 1st gen F body to the "right" side, Speedtech has the answer for you! The Speedtech 1967- 1969 Camaro and Firebird Right Hand Drive Power Rack & Pinion unit has been specially modified to work with the first generation F Body sub frame so that the steering is now located on the right hand side. The rack has also been shortened to reduce the width of the ball centers which places the rack & pinion pivots in the same position as the upper and lower control arms of a stock Camaro. Replicating the dimensions of the stock steering results in precision rack & pinion steering with very little bump steer!
This 67'-69' F Body Right Hand Drive rack and pinion is a bolt-in kit designed for ease of installation, no welding or major chassis modification is required! Some frames may need the pinch weld area of the cross member trimmed slightly and that's about it. The unit comes mounted to its own unique bracket that mounts on the rear of the frame cross member. To install the rack and pinion, simply remove the existing rearward lower control arm bolts and replace them with the provided longer bolts. Place the rack and pinion into position and tighten the new control arm bolts. Finally remove and replace the stock steering arms with the new steering arms provided and attach the new outer tie-rod ends to the arms. Included in the kit is a double u-joint shaft kit along with our steering column adapter.
- Power Assist type design.
- Simple bolt-in installation.
- Quick ratio feel.
- Lighter weight than factory steering.
- Nearly eliminates Bump Steer.
Note: Converting to right hand drive typically requires additional firewall modifications and will require custom built headers.
