Rear Suspension System 1964-1972 Chevelle, A Body

By nature, the GM 4 link has been known to perform well in a straight line situation. However, because of suspension bind, geometry fluctuations, weak stamped steel control arms and rubber bushings there is a lot left to be desired when it comes to performance handling. Most A body rear suspension products on the market rely on solid control arms and poly bushings to "beef" up the suspension. This does not resolve the suspension bind and geometry fluctuation issues. They also maintain the less effective factory located control arm mounting points for the sway bar which doesn't allow the bar to do its job correctly.
Speedtech resolved these issues by engineering a Pro Touring Rear Suspension that really works! Utilizing technology similar to that found in desert truck racing, our Articulink upper and lower trailing arms are a two piece construction (A) that rotates laterally while the suspension travels through it's normal range of motion. This greatly reduces bind, maintains better geometry curves and results in a smoother suspension travel. Greasable Delrin bushings (B) help eliminate flex and squeak found in rubber or poly bushings.
In the diagram (C) you can also see that our upper and lower control arms are threaded for ease of adjustabliity. This ensures you can set the proper pinion angle and the axle is centered in the wheel opening. This threaded portion is CNC milled from a billet steel insert which is then welded into the control arm tubing. The threads are the same large diameter as the arm, rather than relying on the small bolt size heim joint threads that competitors' control arms use. This design sets us apart and leads the industry in how well your 4 link car can handle!

Our base suspension package includes Articulink adjustable upper and lower trailing arms, a 3-way adjustable rear sway bar, updated frame mount sway bar links, new installation hardware and custom alignment specs. This kit maintains the factory style rear coil springs and shocks.
Our complete rear suspension package includes both the trailing arm and coilover conversion kits at a special price.

If you haven't already purchased Viking wrench kits with your front coilovers, you will need to order them for your rear coilovers. One pair will adjust both front and rear shocks. Also available are thrust bearing kits, which make your on-car ride height adjustments that much smoother and easier. Add on your wrench and bearing kits while ordering below!
If you are upgrading to Ridetech shocks, thrust bearings are not included, however a Ridetech style wrench is included, see option boxes while ordering below.
Shock Upgrade Options Include-

Ridetech's mono-tube nitrogen charged shock provides a great ride quality with fade free performance. A larger 1.834” piston rides on a 5/8” chrome shaft through an oversized rod guide providing improved piston rod stability. A specially contoured composite gas separator cup optimizes dead length and ensures proper nitrogen/oil separation. The clear anodized impact forged aluminum body provides superior strength, while the unique pinch clamp height adjuster uses finer thread for easy adjustment.
The single adjustable shock (A) allows for easy simultaneous adjustment of compression and rebound.
The triple adjustable shock (B) has a single rebound adjustment and a DUAL high and low speed compression adjustment. A remote reservoir allows easy installation in a variety of applications.
Application: '64-72 Chevelles
**Our brackets will fit factory GM style shock brackets or Currie axles only. They will not fit other aftermarket axle brackets without major modification to axle and/or shock brackets!
- We have found that our brackets do not line up with 1969 GTO/ Lemans shock mounts.
- Order below according to the year of your car, 1966 OR '64,65,'67-72.
- Currie 9" Axles require special Currie based brackets, order for CURRIE axle below.
